SCW INSIDE-OUT Opening Reception

November 15, 20087:00 pmto9:00 pm

With this exhibit, titled SCW INSIDE-OUT, we celebrate our 25th anniversary with a behind-the-scenes look at some of the less obvious aspects of what it means to be an international “peace and justice publisher and distributor.” Topics include: the poster process, from brainstorm to finished product; customer feedback when we don’t get it right (and when we do); the poster backlist/greatest flops, and more! Join us for what promises to be a show filled with surprising, entertaining, and visually stimulating perspectives!

As a special event, the ArtRage Gallery will present a screening of the documentary on the Syracuse Community Choir, “Giving Voice” by the artist’s husband Miso Suchý. It chronicles the range of people who find a sense of community with each other and the music they share with us. 30 minutes.

Voices of Diversity – Opening Reception

January 17, 20097:00 pmto9:00 pm

This exhibit is a composite photographic portrait of the Syracuse Community Choir by the acclaimed photographer Lida Suchy. It is made up of a large number of 8×10″ view camera portraits of individual members in an attempt to visually articulate some of what makes the Community Choir unique, both as individuals and as a group. For more than 20 years, the Syracuse Community Choir has been an important voice in the Central New York community, actively promoting the ideas of social justice, peace and inclusiveness. This photography exhibition foregrounds the potential of art/singing as a powerful tool for fostering broad social inclusiveness and community building.
