Nakba Commemoration
Share in our community’s 6th annual commemoration of the 1947-48 Palestinian Catastrophe. The 1948 Palestinian exodus occurred when more than 700,000 Palestinian Arabs left, fled or were expelled from their homes in what is today the State of Israel.
The event will feature the documentary “On the Side of the Road”, which follows Israeli veterans of the ’48 war as they retrace the remnants of the Palestinian villages destroyed during the conflict.
In addition, student poet Sabreen Mere will perform a reading of “Past the Olive Tree” followed by group discussion and reflection.
Light refreshments will be served.
Sponsored by CNY Working for a Just Peace in Paelstine and Israel, a project of the Syracuse Peace Council.
